Shops in 4 metros of the state will remain closed till May 3, decided after discussion with traders: Ashwini Kumar

Corona virus is on the rise in the state. The total number of corona positive patients in the state has reached 3071. While the Rupani government has given permission to open shops in some districts of the state, the shops in 4 metros of the state will not remain open till May 3. CMO secretary Ashwini Kumar told a press conference that the government, after deliberations with traders, had decided not to open shops in four metros of the state - Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot - except for essential items till May 3. He said the decision was taken by the district commissioner after a meeting with local traders. Only essentials shops will be allowed to open in this district. It is to be noted that business employment has been allowed in areas other than these four cities from today.

Ashwini Kumar said that in view of the growing corona virus, the municipal commissioners and collectors of these metros have jointly decided that shops and businesses will not be allowed to operate in these four metros till May 8. Only shops of essentials and necessities that were earlier open during the lockdown will be allowed to continue in these metros.

He said that malls, multi-complexes, barbers, hair salons, beauty parlors, pan masala shops or tea shops would not be allowed in other areas of the state which have been allowed to start businesses from today.
